Company

Who We Are

We manufacture and market a unique line of fabric bed and bath products using our customer's photographic images. Current products include blankets, shower curtains, duvet covers, pillows, and pillowcases in color or black and white. Quality fabrics and state of the art digital imaging yield products with realistic durable images that don't change the feel of the fabric. All can be laundered with no fading or shrinkage. When paired with a good image they provide a lifetime of enoyment.

Most people prefer to use images of a loved one or pet to provide years of happy memories that can actually be snuggled. Decorators use them to provide some pizazz or a special accent color to otherwise boring bedrooms and baths, often with florals or scenes. Many are given as gifts - especially tempting since duplicates are only half price! Gift certificates are available for those who have waited until the last minute or those who want the recipient to select just the right image. Images may be provided in digital or physical form and orders may be placed online or by mail. Prices are $40-$150 payable by credit card, check, or money order. Delivery is 2-4 weeks and shipping is free.

Do you share my customer information?

Yes, but we do not sell or rent it. When you purchase products, enter contests or request infomation, we share your information with third parties to fulfill your request. We share it with agents, consultants and various companies we employ to operate and improve our business. We share it with law enforcement in connection with investigations of illegal activity. If we are acquired or merged into another company we would share your information. Please review our Privacy Policy for further details.

Why should I order?

Because our products are fun and unique! Because you or someone you love has a very special photograph. Sure, it could be enlarged and framed, but do you really want another framed photo? And if it's truly special, wouldn't it be nice if you could actually snuggle with it? That's hard to do with a photograph!

Now it can be enjoyed every day by decorating your bed, sofa, or bath with a blanket, shower curtain, duvet cover or pillow. It will be noticed and appreciated far more than a framed photo ever will. And what a unique gift! Grandparents love anything with their grandchildren pictured and everyone loves to display and share images of their pets. Or to set off that new paint job, have some pillows or a duvet cover made with just the right accent colors.

Our imaging process does not change the feel of the fabric. Plus, the images are virtually permanent, so all our products can be machine washed and dried without shrinking or fading.

How do I order?

There are three ways to order: online, by mail and by phone. To order online or by phone, you must pay with a credit card or a gift certificate. If paying by check or money order you must order by mail using an order form. Here are specific instructions for each method:

ORDER ONLINE: Simply select the "Get Started" button on the homepage and you'll be walked through the "3 Easy Steps". Choose a product, Send an image and, Check out. In Step 2, "Send an Image", you have three options: 1.Upload your Image and place your order online, 2.Email or mail your image and place your order online and 3.Mail your image and place order by mail. If you select option 1 or 2 and place your order online, you'll receive a receipt by email with an order number. Please include this number if you email or mail your image(s) instead of uploading them. If you select option 3 and place your order by mail, print an order form and mail your images along with it. After receiving the order and processing your payment we will send a receipt with your order number.

ORDER BY MAIL: Print an order form. It has all the necessary information required to place an order. Complete it and enclose it with your image(s). Remember that a $10 image charge applies to mail in orders. You may send your image on a disk or as a print between 4x6 and 8x10. Please keep the original and send a copy since we do not return disks or prints unless you include a postage paid self addressed photo or CD mailer.

ORDER BY PHONE: If you are paying with a credit card or gift certificate and prefer not to use the website, we'll be happy to take your order over the phone @ 888-FOTOBED (888-368-6233). We will begin processing your order as soon as we receive your image(s).

How do I pay?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit or debit cards. We also accept checks and money orders. All must be issued by a U.S. based financial institution and payment must be made in U.S. dollars. Please do not send cash.

If paying by card, we will charge your card when we begin processing your order. The charge will appear on your statement as FotoBed.com. If paying by check or money order, there will be a 1 or 2 week delay since we do not begin processing your order until the check or money order clears. Returned items will be subject to a minimum fee of $25.

What are half-price duplicates?

A duplicate is an exact copy of the product you are ordering. Each original in your shopping cart will have a blue link below it offering ONE duplicate for half-price. Use this link to receive an additional identical item for half price. You may order as many duplicates as you want, but there is a limit of ONE half-price duplicate per original ordered. Additional duplicates are full price. For 5 or more of the same item, see bulk pricing.

Images

Will my image work?

High resolution closeups in clear focus with adequate contrast between subject and background will work best. Digital images taken at high resolution with a 3 megapixel or higher digital camera will almost always work. For uploading choose a .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .tiff or .png file between 500k and 3 megs for best results.

Keep product dimensions in mind when selecting an image. Pillows are square, blankets and pillowcases are rectangular and shower curtains and duvets can be either shape. We will crop your image so it fits the product but you should still keep the shape in mind when selecting an image. For more information on what images will not work see "Can I Use Any Image?". Can I use any image?

No. Some photos will simply not make an acceptable product. Images from camera phones or off the web usually do not have adequate resolution. Photos that are blurred, foggy, cracked or miscolored will not work. Images without adequate contrast between subject and background will not work. For more information on what will work, see "Will my image work?".

Also, you must have the rights to reproduce the image you provide. Generally, if it is a photo you have taken, this will be the case. However, if it is a photo taken by a photographer or one that has been published you will need to include a release. We do not accept images of copyrighted material without a release. Neither do we accept images considered to be obscene, vulgar, hateful, an invasion of privacy, or otherwise objectionable. If you provide an image we are unable or unwilling to use, you will be notified. For more information see Terms and Conditions. Feel free to call or email us if you have questions.

How do I send my image?

Upload it to the website, email it or mail it. All options are offered in Step 2 of the order process "Send an Image". Uploading is best since emailing and mailing cost an extra $10/image. Here are specific instructons for all options:

UPLOAD AN IMAGE : Click the browse button and locate a .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png file for your product. If you have trouble locating your image, try clicking "My Documents" and then "My Pictures". Choose a file between 500k and 5 Megs for best results.

Once selected, the Browse button will change to read Upload. Simply click the Upload button to start the process. Please be patient - it may take a few moments. The page will automatically change once the upload is complete.

EMAIL AN IMAGE : Attach the image to your email and send it to service@fotobed.com. Include your order number so we know what order to use the image for.

MAIL AN IMAGE : For $10/image, CD's or prints can be mailed. Please include your name and order number with your images. Prints must be between 4x6 and 8x10 on traditional photo paper. Inkjet or laser prints are not acceptable. Prints and CD's will not be returned unless you enclose a postage paid self addressed photo or CD mailer. We encourage you to keep the original and send a copy since we are not responsible for lost or damaged images.

What is resolution?

Resolution is a measure of image quality. Digital images are made up of thousands of tiny dots called pixels. The more pixels, the more detailed the image.

Each digital image will be a specific number of pixels in width and height. When these width and height values are multiplied together, the result is the total number of pixels in the image. So an image which is 1,000 pixels wide and 1,000 pixels high has a total pixel count of 1,000,000 pixels, or 1 megapixel.

To find out how many pixels are in an image, place your mouse pointer on the image. Often this will open a box containing information including dimensions which are listed in pixels with width first and height second. If a box doesn't appear automatically, place your mouse pointer on the image and click the RIGHT mouse button once and release. A menu will appear. Using the LEFT mouse button, select "Properties" at the bottom of the menu and a new window will appear. Select the summary tab at the top of this screen and you should see width and height in pixels.

Recommended Resolutions

The MINIMUM pixels required for creating a high quality print are listed below width x height:

Pillow - 500 x 500

Pillowcase - 750 x 500

Blanket - 1000 x 1000

Duvet Cover/Shower Curtain - 1300 x 1300

These are MINIMUMS with no allowance for cropping. You must provide more than the minimum pixels if cropping is required. The more cropping is required, the more pixels we need. More pixels mean more detail but only up to a point. Doubling or tripling our minimums is ok but going beyong that is usually overkill and won't improve the end product. It will also create a huge file which will take longer to upload or won't upload at all. Anything over 5 megabytes will be rejected by the upload utility. A 1-3 meg file will usually work for any of our products and this is what you'll get if you use a 3-7 megapixel digital camera on a medium or high resolution setting.

What is cropping?

Cropping is changing the borders of an image to create a certain shape or to emphasize the subjects. We reserve the right to crop the images so that your product looks its best. Consequently, the image on your product may be slightly different than the one you submit.


Products

What are product options?

Product options are ways for you to customize your product by selecting a unique size, image treatment, text, etc. Some are free and some require an additional charge. All available options appear with their cost during Step 2 of the order process. To help you select your options, this step includes a link illustrating them. Here are details for each option:

Size - Blankets are offered in 2 sizes: 50x60 and 54x70. The 54x70 is just $20 more and you get 25% more blanket! Duvet covers are offered in 3 sizes: Full/Queen, King and Twin. All sizes are the same price.

Edges - This option applies to duvet covers and shower curtains only. It determines how the outer edges of your image will appear on the product. None: outer edges of image on product are the same as the outer edges on your image (unchanged). Faded: outer edges of image on product are faded to white. Framed: outer edges of image on product are framed using a color from your image. Specify exact position on image in Special Instructions during Check Out. All edge options are free.

Touch-Up - Straighten, correct red eye, balance color, balance contrast and sharpen as needed. $10 for most images.

Color to B/W - Change your color image to black and white. Free.

Remove Background - Remove background and isolate subject(s). Adequate contrast required. $20 for most images.

Add Text - Add up to 24 characters of text to your image. Our photo editors determine style and placement. $10 - Check your spelling carefully!

What fabrics are used?

The blanket is 100% cotton. All other products are 100% polyester, although the pillowcase and duvet cover feel more like cotton than polyester.

How are products imaged?

The blanket actually has the image woven in stitch by stitch using computer controlled looms and over 8 miles of cotton yarn. All other products are printed using a sublimation process. This process "fuses" the image into the fabric to make a permanent, extremely durable, high detail image. The process does not change the feel of the fabric and the image will not fade, crack, or peel.

Will the product match my image?

Most people are amazed at the image and color quality of our products, but they won't match your image. You are viewing your image on a monitor or print. It will look different when viewed on fabric. Also, colors may vary. Generally colors will be true, but shades of color may vary from what you see in your image. Also, if we have to crop your image to fit the product, it will appear slightly different.

How do I clean it?

No worries! It's ok to get it dirty. Because our weaving and printing process makes the image an integral part of the product, all products can be machine laundered with no fading or shrinkage. All products have content and care labels with specific instructions.

Can I add text?

For an additional $10 fee, you can add text to any product. There is a maximum of 24 characters. Our photo editors will select style and positioning of text. Please check your spelling carefully. We are not responsible for your spelling errors, only for ours.


Shipping

How long does it take?

Your product is shipped 2-4 weeks from receipt of an acceptable image or receipt of payment, whichever is later. This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Actual time will depend upon product ordered and time of year. Almost all orders are produced in 1-3 weeks and free ground shipping takes another few days depending on your location. If it needs to be there by a certain date, include a note in "Special Instructions" during Check Out or contact us. We'll do our best to meet your needs. Upon shipment, you will receive an email notification. Blankets ship separately from other products.

Is shipping really free?

Of course not - nothing is really free. For your convenience and for the sake of simplicity, we have included the cost of domestic ground shipping in our prices. We will ship at no charge to a single address. Additional addresses are $10 each.

Are express shipping and international shipping available?

Yes, but not at Check Out. Simply contact us or include a note in the "Special Instructions" during Check Out and we will contact you with options.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, but only one shipping address can be entered during Check Out. All products on the order can be shipped to that address free using domestic ground service. If you would like us to ship to other addresses, please indicate so in "Special Instructions" and send them by email, fax, or mail. Be sure to include your order number. Domestic ground shipping is $10 per address. We do not ship to P.O. Boxes.


Policies

Are your products guaranteed?

Everything we sell is guaranteed to be free of defects in materials and workmanship. Should you discover any such defects, contact us within 7 days of receipt. However, since the products we sell are custom, one-of-a-kind items, we do not accept returns except in the case of a defect in materials or workmanship. For the same reason, we do not accept cancellations or offer substitutions or refunds. All sales are final, so please review your order carefully before placing it.

What about personalization and shipping errors?

A personalization (text) error on our part is considered a defect in workmanship. Should this occur, contact us within 7 days and we will make it right. However, if the error is yours, correction will be at your expense.

Likewise, if a shipping error is ours, we will pay to redeliver or reroute to the correct address. If rerouting is required because of an error on your part, you will be charged. Be sure to provide a complete street address (no P.O. Boxes) with an accurate apartment or suite number if applicable.

What about returns?

No returns are accepted without previous authorization. Should you have a valid reason for returning the product, contact us within 7 days of receipt and we will issue a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number. This RMA number must appear on your package or it will be refused. The return carrier is at our discretion unless you are paying for return freight.

If an item is damaged in shipping, a claim must be made with the carrier. We will be glad to help with this. Please notify us and the carrier A.S.A.P. after receipt and retain the packaging.

How do gift certificates work?

Gift certificates are available in any amount from $5-$500, and are good for one year from date of issue. They can be applied to any product or service we offer except other gift certificates and can be used online or by mail. The recipient of the gift receives either an email certificate or a paper certificate by first class mail. The certificate has the value, expiration date and a personal message of your choice. A code is included that can be used to pay all or part of an online or mail-in order. For more information, see the Gift Certificate product page.

Extra photos and collages

The website is designed to only accept one photo per product. However, there are many creative and attractive ways to use multiple images on a single product. If you or a friend are familiar with photo editing software, you can do it yourself and send us an image ready to reproduce. Or our editors can do it. Simply contact us for details and we'll be glad to help you create a masterpiece!
